After a disappointing international break, the USMNT stars are back in Europe and resuming action with their club teams this weekend. For a recap of the matches v. Canada and New Zealand, head over to our profile and check our recap post.

Following an international break, the USMNT players often times are given a bit of a rest – because the travel back and forth to the US plus the matches themselves strain the players, and the teams don’t want guys getting hurt. So don’t be surprised to see more Americans coming off the bench or being rested altogether than normal.

Our top match this weekend features AC Milan and Venezia. We think Pulisic and Musah should play, given they only played ~30 and 45 minutes respectively against New Zealand. Busio is supposed to be back after his thigh injury in the Olympics – so we could get 3 yanks on the pitch at the same time in Serie A. Pretty cool. Plus there’s tons of pressure on Milan to perform better after a dismal start to the season.

Joe Scally and Borussia Monchengladbach will take on one of Germany’s best teams, Stuttgart. Scally was rested against New Zealand so we think he’ll start, and Stuttgart is a Champions League quality side so this should be a good one.

Antonee Robinson was rested and didn’t travel to the US for the international break, so he should be ready to kick some ass against West Ham.

Our last featured match this week has Patrick Schulte and Miles Robinson squaring off. This gives USMNT fans a chance to check in on two shaky positions in one game. Schulte looked good in goal against Canada, and seems to be in the lead for our starting spot – can he keep up the momentum? Robinson hasn’t featured for the full national team in a while, but could regain his spot if he can get back to his pre-injury form.

Enjoy the games and we’ll be back early next week to post you on how all our boys did.

The last match window before the USMNT all gather in Austin for Pochettino’s first camp was action packed.

Pulisic scored, and was Milan’s best player, again! It’s almost every game this year he’s been either the best player by the data or as voted by fans. …But we get some bad vibes from his teammates twice stripping him of the PK responsibility against the coach’s orders. Theo Hernandez and Tammy Abraham both had their PKs saved by David de Gea – so they probably should have let Pulisic, who is 10/10 in his career, take them.
